Amy Hirsh Robinson, principal of the consulting firm The Interchange Group in Los Angeles, shared that “Onboarding is a magic moment when new employees decide to stay engaged or become disengaged. It offers an imprinting window when you can make an impression that stays with new employees for the duration of their careers”.
It has always been emphasized in the HR world how critical employee onboarding is. Onboarding is a great avenue to for employers to win the hearts of their future talents. In the same article that A.H. Robinson wrote in 2017 about the importance of good onboarding, “69 percent of employees are more likely to stay with a company for three years if they experience great onboarding”. This percentage, in my opinion, is quite big. Imagine, that’s more than half of the population of your new hires.
Think about it – if you do not put importance on the onboarding experience of your new hires, you might just quickly lose all your sourcing and recruiting efforts right before your eyes. Managing your candidates (post-hire) is just giving value to your people. It is as critical as your recruitment and sourcing initiatives – and this should not be given less value in any way.

An article from nextgeneration.ie written by Luke Davis, stated that “The recruitment process is complex, the practice does not end at finding the perfect candidate for the role, recruitment should be ongoing, starting at sourcing the perfect candidate and ending when that perfect candidate is 100% embedded into the organization through effective onboarding programs”.
